Job Description
The Director of Graduate Business Programs (GBP) Admissions is a member of the GBP leadership team and will have strategic and day-to-day responsibility for directing the implementation of a strategic plan for the recruitment and selection of qualified students to Graduate Business Programs; including the Full-time MBA, Master of Accountancy, MS in Business Analytics, MS in Supply Chain (Global), MS in Marketing, and the MS in Human Resource Management programs to satisfy enrollment goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will design, implement, and oversee delivery of business development processes of these 6+ residential programs offered by the Graduate & Executive Education area of the Haslam College of Business.
The Director will serve as a direct liaison with department heads, partner college deans and directors to meet enrollment goals. This person will ensure representation at external, national events to ensure the awareness and reputation of the Graduate Business Programs are elevated. In consultation with the Executive Director, this role will implement new ideas, programming, and strategies to maintain top-25 caliber programs. In addition, the individual in this position oversees the implementation of admissions-related programs and services. Develop targeted recruiting strategies to increase the number of high caliber applicants to graduate business programs.
The Director will manage the GBP admissions team that will be responsible for providing a highly personalized recruiting experience to all applicants and ensure a professional and smooth applicant experience through the admissions process. They will provide oversight on application processing, reading admissions files, making decisions and providing feedback to prospective students. They will develop and implement activities including scholarship and GTA allocation to increase yield and retention. This individual has a significant impact on the marketing and branding strategy for the Graduate Business Programs through advertising and communication initiatives as well as serving as the MBA liaison to the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC).
Responsibilities
- Program Management and Oversight
- Oversee the daily management of the Graduate Business Program admissions office and prospective student experience, set high standards and expectations for service
- Direct responsibility of developing and implementing strategic plan to meet enrollment goals
- Work collaboratively with faculty and program directors to ensure that the recruiting strategies align with program offerings and needs
- Responsible for designing effective and efficient application processing procedures
- Provide highly personalized and professional recruiting and admissions services to all applicants
- Liaison with Development Office to ensure funding for all programs
- Chair of the admissions committee
- Acts as a liaison between the university and external stakeholders, specifically external business development vendors, prospective applicants, and corporate partners
- Develop yield campaign to increase matriculation rate
- Recruiting Strategy and Implementation
- Develop strategy to increase number of applications to MBA, MSBA, MAcc, MS Supply Chain, MSM and MSHRM programs
- Plan procedures, processes, services, and systems related to lead generation, alumni lead referral, and overall business development.
- Design recruitment plan to increase quality and diversity of class
- Execute enrollment goals while increasing quality of work experience
- Develop yield campaign to increase matriculation rate
- Responsible for interviewing applicants, reading applications and making admit decisions
- Travel and represent Graduate Business Programs at recruitment fairs and other events as appropriate
- Marketing and Social Media
- Collaborate with Marketing Department to produce effective marketing materials to increase awareness of Haslam MBA program
- Design and implement social media plan that raises the visibility of the Haslam graduate programs
- Oversight of website updates
- Supervision and training
- Supervise admissions team and provide ongoing development of staff
- Supervise, train, and coach three staff members, monitor their performance, provide work direction, guidance, and consultation, define work standards and expectations, conduct performance evaluations, address concerns, monitor schedules and sign time-sheets, host team staff retreats
- Financial responsibility
- Oversee management and appropriate expenditures of funds for all admissions related events, services and operations
- Responsible for implementation of financial aid awarding strategies
- Manage financial aid budget including named fellowships
- Oversee GTA assignment, allocations and communications
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree required
- Experience: 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of Slate or similar recruiting tool
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong customer relationship skills
- Demonstrated managerial, strong leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential

- Outside sales experience, previous successful sales track demonstrating setting, increasing and achieving sales goals; selling both tangible and intangible products.
