The Director for Business Development and Engagement is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Workforce Business Development and Engagement team. The Business Development and Engagement Team has college wide responsibilities developing and overseeing relationships with external partners and includes business development, solutions, career services, grants and initiatives as needed. This position works closely with the Vice Chancellor of Workforce Development on key initiatives.
This position is also responsible for administration of a multi-faceted operation and strategic direction; ensure operation of assigned area aligns with college vision and mission; and lead special projects and initiatives assigned by administrative supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct the activities of the Business Development and Engagement team to include planning, implementing, administering, and evaluating projects and services having impact throughout the College District–wide (Business Development and Engagement team includes business development, solutions, career services, grants and initiatives as needed)
Supervise and mentor employees to include: prioritize and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure staff is trained; and make hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations
Manage financial operations of the Business Development and Engagement Team
Develop, administer, and monitor budgets; implement and allocate resources, approve expenditures and monitor grant compliance
Collaborate and partner with college departments, external institutions, and agencies regarding complex issues or policies impacting assigned programs, services or operations
Represent the team, VC and or Dean at events, meetings and committees as needed. Ensure effective and timely communication within and outside of the team and division
Develop, plan, implement, and administer departmental goals and objectives
Develop, plan, implement, and administer strategic planning, organizational goals and objectives
Manage strategic marketing and outreach activities workforce and economic development needs and initiatives
Coordinate with Division Deans on the development, oversight, and management of programs, projects and offerings
Establish, monitor, evaluate, and improve processes, procedures and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the College mission, values, goals, objectives, initiatives, and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations.
Innovate programs, processes and services based on Workforce Development and Continuing Education principles
Administer functional contract proposals and committees; manage the selection and deployment of contracts
Direct and supervise the collection of technical data and the preparation of a variety of complex reports, statements, and communications affecting employees, programs, grants, and service providers or vendors providing analysis and recommendations
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field and
Five to eight years of related experience and
Three plus years of supervisory experience
or
An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
