POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Master's degree in a health-related field, Public Administration, Psychology, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Special Education, Instructional Leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of three years successful administrative experience.
  • Specified training and/or professional experience in the provision of diagnostic and evaluation services.
  • Professional experience planning, organizing, facilitating and/or implementing professional development activities staff, consumers, and/or agencies.



PERFERRED POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Education, Public Administration, Instructional Leadership, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment or related field.
  • Five years of successful administrative experience.
  • Sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE upon employment


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for directing all AIDB Health and Clinical Services Departments. Departments include: Nursing/Medical/Dental Services, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Audiology, Low Vision, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Equestrian program.
  • Experience which demonstrates diligence about detail and accuracy in work is required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and exhibit professional integrity.
  • Must be able to work with a wide range of professionals in directing a comprehensive health services and clinical program.
  • Responsible for directing the AIDB Assessment and Admissions Office.
  • Responsible for monitoring AIDB's compliance with state and federal laws in AIDB's Related Services areas.
  • Responsible for developing and managing all Health and Clinical Services budgets.
  • Responsible for coordination of HCS Medicaid/Third Party billing.
  • Direct the scheduling and assignment of students and clients for various clinics and other services as necessary to meet the health and clinical needs of these individuals.
  • Establish and maintain a continuous plan of professional development for the professional and technical staff of the Health and Clinical Services Department.
  • Direct and coordinate the liaison between the Health and Clinical Services staff, instructional staff, child care staff and other support staff.
  • Maintain an appropriate system of health, medical and related records on students and clients enrolled in the Institute with an emphasis on the computerization of the records system.
  • Coordinate with the Physical Plant Department for the care and safekeeping of the Health and Clinical Services facilities and the equipment therein.
  • Maintain professional competence and growth through participation in in-service educational activities, and through other organizational memberships, reading, conferences, courses, etc.
  • Maintain vendor table at Special Education conferences, i.e. MEGA.
  • Establish health and clinical intern programs with other agencies and institutions where beneficial to AIDB.
  • Maintain professional and effective relationships with supportive agencies, such as Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, State Department of Education, Department of Mental Health, etc.
  • Develop the Strategic Plan for HCS departments.
  • Attend all staff meetings called by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Accreditation and Chief Education Programs Officer, and the President.
  • Assist in promoting the programs and activities of the Institute to the public and creating goodwill for the education of the children and consumers enrolled.
  • Serve as a member of the AIDB Human Rights Committee.
  • Monitor travel procedures, requisitions, and travel requests for AIDB Health and Clinical Services employees.
  • Ensure all Health and Clinical Services staff are in compliance with all job and professional requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Nursing the administration of all reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug screenings.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Nursing the administration of all student/athlete physicals.
  • Maintain Health and Clinical Services equipment inventory.
  • Coordinate contracts with external agencies and vendors.
  • Participate in research and grant writing activities.
  • Coordinate fund raising activities with the Office of Institutional Advancement for Health and Clinical Services.
  • Review Health and Clinical Services payroll and travel vouchers for accuracy before submitting to Business Affairs.
  • Sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL, according to the AIDB evaluation system, must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
  • Sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL PLUS, according to the AIDB evaluation system, must be obtained within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment.
  • Sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE, according to the AIDB evaluation system, must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Accreditation, Chief Education Programs Officer and/or President of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.
