Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world's most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are deaf, blind, deafblind and multi-disabled and their families. Our services literally span a lifetime including five campuses in Talladega, ten regional centers located in Birmingham, Dothan, Decatur, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, Opelika, Talladega, Tuscaloosa and Tuscumbia with programs that range from early and senior intervention, traditional and nontraditional education services in residential and outreach settings and a manufacturing facility that is the state's largest employer of adults who are blind and deaf.

The staff in this role will work with a diverse group, offering quality service to those they serve.
You will be responsible for operating production equipment, processing laundry, dry cleaning, cleaning, organizing the work flow, picking up laundry from sister campuses, working with students, and following all of AIDB rules and policies.
You will play a vital role in the lives of our students and staff, and be a part of the miracles that happens every day at AIDB. This will be accomplished by demonstrating flexibility, a positive attitude, dedication, and support of the AIDB culture.
- High school certificate/diploma or GED desired.
- A sign language proficiency level of Survival according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
- Must be able to lift repetitively up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be willing to learn to operate laundry and dry-cleaning equipment.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective relationships.
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB
SALARY: $12.18 - $13.94 per hour Scale C4 Rank 21
Direct deposit is required.
This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
