This position is responsible for providing nursing services to the students at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a good attendance work record.
- Must be willing to be flexible with schedule changes, including filling in on other campuses and shifts as needed.
- Will be available to be "ON-CALL" as indicated on the schedule provided by the Director of Nursing. This will include all AIDB campuses.
- Good communication skills.
- Communicates with various agencies, parents, doctors, and/or individuals as necessary to meet the medical needs of students/clients.
- Experience that demonstrates diligence about detail and accuracy in work is required.
- Records daily activities according to established guidelines, maintains clinical data, and patient records on individual students/clients.
- Accompanies and/or transports students/clients as necessary to various clinics, doctors' offices, hospital(s), etc.
- Assist in clinics as needed.
- Assist with scheduling, referral, follow-up, and physical examination of students for EPSDT screenings.
- Serve on various committees as appointed by the Director of Nursing or the Executive Director of Health & Clinical Services.
- Plans and implements In-Service Education for AIDB staff/students/clients. Assists with in-service education on other campuses as needed.
- Assist in preparing the agenda and protocols regarding health-related issues and health education programs.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing health education programs to the public and to health care professionals.
- Will serve on IEP teams as requested.
- Functions within the framework of the Alabama Nursing Practice Act.
- Complies with federal, state, internal policies, administrative guidelines, mandates, and regulations that impact nursing and school health services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- A sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
- Obtain and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support Instructor Certification.
- Obtain and maintain Drug Testing collector certification and assist the Director of Nursing with meeting drug-testing requirements.
- Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF NURSING
N1-RN Salary Range: $50,891-$74,002
187-day position
Direct deposit is required.
