Service Coordinators & Developmental Specialists serve as team members with other service providers to help children and their families obtain needed services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold Bachelor's or Master's degree with certification in Hearing or Vision impairment.

    OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related human service fields accepted by Alabama's Early Intervention System's (AEIS) document, "Personnel Standards for Alabama's Early Intervention System"

  • Certification of "Journey through Early Intervention in Alabama-Level I" and "Message ReVITALIZED: Journey Level II" after three (3) months of employment

  • Documentation as "Alabama Approved" in conducting the Routines Based Interview (RBI) and in Routines Based Home Visiting (RBHV) within twelve (12) months of employment.

  • A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL must be obtained within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment

  • Minimum of one-year experience in the Alabama Early Intervention System, with AIDB internship experience considered as qualifying experience.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain program compliance with Alabama's Early Intervention System (AEIS) through the Monitoring Review process

  • Accept and process referrals in a timely manner

  • Maintain records and documentation in a timely and organized manner in compliance with AIDB and AEIS standards

  • Attend required workshops and participate in training through other sources based on identified individual and program training needs

  • Complete appropriate Medicaid training/maintain required Medicaid documentation

  • Coordinate the timely provision of Early Intervention services across agency lines

  • Serve as a team member with other staff, therapists and service providers

  • Serve as the single point of contact in helping parents obtain needed services, advocating on behalf of the needs and rights of children and their families

  • Facilitate and participate in the development, review, and evaluation of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), inclusive of Six-Month Reviews, Annual Reviews, and Transition Plans

  • Coordinate planned interaction of personnel, materials and time and space that leads to achieving the outcomes on the child's IFSP

  • Coordinate the performance of evaluations and assessments

  • Provide the family with information, skills and supports related to enhancing the child's development of skills

  • Work with the child to enhance the child's development

  • Plan home visits, parent workshops and play groups

  • Complete Provider Services Rendered Forms that are in compliance with Alabama's Early Intervention System (AEIS) Monitoring Reviews

  • Collect data on child and parent progress; compile progress reports to determine accountability for direct/consultative instruction

  • Complete 150 clock hours of VI and HI training through AIDB approved workshops

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."

    SALARY: $ 47,007 - $62,707 Scale D1 Rank 56

    187 Days

    Direct Deposit is required.

    This is an exempt position, and is not subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
