Lead Groundsman (AIDB North)

DEFINITION: This is a skilled position involving all phases of grounds work; emphasis may be in a particular area such as plants, turf, or equipment.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid State of Alabama Driver's License and be able to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier.

High School Diploma or GED

Must have physical ability to perform assigned duties.

Must have general knowledge of grounds maintenance.

Must have landscaping skills.

Must be able to work unsupervised on assigned tasks.

Must have demonstrated ability to perform Preventative Maintenance and Repairs on Grounds Equipment.

Must have the ability to understand and implement written and oral instructions

Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and/or two years of related work experience.

Previous experience as a supervisor

Previous experience as an equipment mechanic

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Routine Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operating weed-eater, push mowers, light tractor, and heavy equipment

Assist Maintenance and Grounds Foreman in supervision of other Grounds Employees

Perform Preventative Maintenance and Repair on AIDB Equipment

Planting shrubs and trees

Pruning and cutting trees and shrubs

Moving furniture, etc.

Other duties related to grounds-keeping

Must maintain all the grounds for AIDB in a professional manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: AIDB-N Maintenance Foreman and Director Physical Plant.

SALARY: C5-42 - $19.91-$23.93

(260 days)

Direct deposit is required; bi-weekly payroll

This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
