Job Description:

Madison Area Technical College is recruiting a pool of qualified licensed high school teachers, who meet the Higher Learning Commission and College requirements, to teach the dual credit/concurrent enrollment courses in the high schools. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis but first review will be January 4, 2020 for classes beginning the upcoming fall semester.

This position is responsible for the delivery of college courses in the high school setting. This includes following the college curriculum, implementing effective learning strategies, delivering instruction of college-level courses, assessing student learning based on college standards, and participating in college activities at the center/department level.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Business and Applied Arts and the Dean of Early College and Workforce Strategy.

The following duties are typically expected for this position:

Responsible for instruction of courses through the Early College Achievement Program. Assist in providing academic and career planning as it relates to the college dual credit course and pathways. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies in collaboration with college faculty mentor. Participate in all required dual credit training and required ECAP Workshop and other meetings as determined. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, and other academic matters in collaboration with college faculty mentor. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance, and offering student support for their academic needs. Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.

Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability. Skilled in the use of educational technology. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery. Skilled in communications and human relations with population having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.

Below is the list of the dual credit courses in business, finance, and marketing areas:

Accounting

One of the following:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university; OR
  • If Master's Degree is not in Accounting, must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA credential


Exploring Hospitality

One of the following:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred in Hospitality, Tourism, Travel or related field; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Travel or related field

AND
  • Seven (7) years (14,000) hours of related work experience, including five (5) years (10,000) hours in management positions which includes increasing levels of responsibility.


Fashion Analysis

Bachelor's Degree in a related business field

AND

Three (3) years work experience in a related field

Intro to Entrepreneurship

One of the following
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a business related field preferred; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship/Business Management or a related business field; OR
  • Associate's degree in Entrepreneurship/Business Management or a related business field and eight (8) years or 16,000 hours of work experience.

AND
  • Four years (8,000) hours of work experience in small business ownership/management positions which include increasing levels of responsibility.


Marketing Principles

One of the following:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred in a business related field; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related field.


Selling Principles

One of the following:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a business related field preferred; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related field.


Social Media Principles

One of the following:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a business related field preferred; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related field.

AND
  • Three years (6,000) hours of work experience in marketing-related positions.


Principles of Sanitation

One of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; OR
  • Associate's Degree in a related field with seven (7) years or 14,000 hours of combined occupational experience AND five (5) years or 10,000 hours or work experience in a management position which include increasing levels of responsibility; OR
  • Bachelor's degree AND five (5) years or 10,000 hours of documented professional scratch baking experience making a variety of bakery products, with a majority of the experience on making scratch breads. This experience must include:
    • Three (3) years of working in a supervisory role and with production experience.
    • One (1) year of full-time equivalent of teaching experience or verifiable, hands-on training experience in a variety of bakery skills.

AND
  • ServSafe Certified


SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS:

THIS POSTING IS FOR CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS WHO HAVE AGREED WITH THEIR HIGH SCHOOL THAT THEY WILL TEACH A DUAL CREDIT COURSE FOR MADISON COLLEGE.

The implementation of concurrent enrollment classes at your high school is an approximate 18-month process. Your application will be reviewed during December and January and you will be notified at that time if you have been approved to teach Early College Achievement Program course/s at your high school the following fall. Content-specific training will occur during the spring months. Renewal to teach concurrent enrollment classes is on an annual basis. It is the applicant's responsibility to insure that all processes and procedures at the high school have been followed in order to implement concurrent enrollment courses; the college is not responsible for internal high school business processes.

An application is considered incomplete without the following required attachments:
Required:
  • Resume documenting related workforce experience as well as direct teaching experience
  • Transcripts* (official copy)
  • Copy of DPI license
    Submission and receipt of this material does not infer acceptance as an Early College Achievement Program instructor.
