ABOUT THE ROLE

The NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) is a collaboration between the National Technical Institute for the Deaf and AIDB. The NRSC serves twelve states in the Southeast, which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

The mission of the NRSC is to promote STEM educational initiatives and career awareness for students who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in primary and secondary schools.



ABOUT YOU

You will play a vital role in the development and instruction of NRSC's Cybersecurity division. Your office will be based in Decatur, Alabama. Nearby Huntsville is considered "the next Silicon Valley." We have opportunities to partner with major corporations in the area due to the nature of our work. You will also provide support with pilot schools who are participating in our Cybersecurity Curriculum for the Deaf Project. You will work with schools to implement CyberPatriot competition teams as well as provide workshops related to the cybersecurity field. You will also be instrumental in the development of the IT certification programs for high school and postsecondary students.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required in Deaf Education or STEM related fields from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, general Information Technology in Deaf Education or three (3) years of experience in IT industry.
  • A minimum SCPI proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE PLUS is required upon employment, obtaining SCPI proficiency level of ADVANCED within thirty-six (36) months of employment
  • Must provide documentation of sign language proficiency evaluation (SCPI available through AIDB).
  • Must obtain A+, Network+, Security+ certifications within thirty-six (36) months.
  • Must complete the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Cybersecurity Curriculum training within twelve (12) months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
  • Certification or knowledge of A+, Network+, Security+ content.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to develop and maintain rapport with constituencies within AIDB as well as in organizations serving special student populations statewide, regionally and nationally.
  • Must be able to travel up to fifty (50) percent by car, train or plane nationwide.
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed including nights and weekends
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB

Salary: $36,432 - $55,255 BS Non-Certified Rank MR Scale 4B

$53,210 - $70,584 BS Certified Rank GI Scale IB

$62,368 - $81,107 MS Certified Rank GI Scale IA

$66,398 - $85,733 AA Certified Rank GI Scale II

230 days

This is an exempt position and is not subject to overtime and/or compensatory time

provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
