POSITION: POOL DRIVER (CDL/Non-CDL) and GUIDE (As needed)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (CDL Driver):

Must hold current valid CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements.
Must have current State Bus Driver or DOT Physical.
Must have DOT physical to drive a bus out of state.
Must register for and provide AIDB access to FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
Must also meet common position requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Non-CDL Driver)

Must hold current valid Alabama driver license.
Must also meet common position requirements

COMMON POSITION REQUIREMENTS (CDL Driver, Non-CDL Driver and Guide):

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must hold current valid Alabama driver license.
Must possess good driving record with no record of DUI. Record will be checked for previous five years.
Must pass AIDB drug screening process.
Must be insurable under AIDB fleet policy.

Preference will be given to persons with experience in working with the deaf, hearing impaired and possessing the ability to communicate through the use of sign language. Applicants experienced

working with the blind, visually impaired and knowledge of basic mobility techniques will also be given preference.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide safe and timely transportation for AIDB students, employees, and affiliates.
Abide by all federal, state, local, and AIDB rules, regulations, laws, and policies.
Complete and turn in all paperwork required by AIDB transportation department.
Keep bus on assigned schedule.
Never leave a student unattended.
Will be responsible for cleanliness of vehicle interior.
Handle and report discipline problems in accordance with school guidelines.
Perform acceptable pre and post trip inspection and report any problems.
Keep accurate and truthful time sheet for payroll purposes.
Remain calm and handle emergency situations as they arise.
Perform chaperone duties.
Must attend wheelchair lift and securement training within (6) months of employment.
A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment
Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director and Principal.

COMPENSATION: CDL Vehicle $21.03 per hour

Non CDL Vehicle $16.60 per hour

Bus Guide $16.60 per hour

Pool Drivers and Guides who hold a permanent position performing the same duty or duties will be paid at their regular rate of pay.
