ABOUT THE ROLE

Our employees are our most valuable resource. The Food Service Manager at the ASD cafeteria is responsible for providing leadership within the department daily. Also making sure the ASD cafeteria is following guidelines for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). You will also be responsible for the training and development of all staff as well as over seeing daily operations. You will be working directly with the Director of Food & Nutrition to develop and maintain the cafetria's budget.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of successful supervisory experience in quantity food preparation, cooking, and service activities in a large commercial or institutional kitchen within the last 10 years. Preferably in a school cafeteria that operates under the NSLP.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the NSLP and SBP guidelines. Including, but not limited to completing production records, financial management, smart snack guidelines, and meal patterns.
  • Must be Servsafe Certified or become certified within 3 months of employment.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word)
  • Must have proven ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Must have a valid Alabama Drivers License.
  • Must have proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, subordinates and all other persons.
  • Must have the ability to train new employees and coach seasoned employees.
  • Must have proven ability to develop work schedules, complete reports, maintain records, and process orders for food, supplies, etc. on time.
  • Must posses good comprehension skills and show the ability to utilize/develop/adapt: recipes, special directions, menus, and any other pertinent information related to the job.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, students, and administration.
  • Must organize, plan, and work (as needed) all aspects of the food service operation for schedule camps and events that take place during the 230 day work schedule.
  • Must posses knowledge of kitchen equipment use and maintenance.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must attend required training and in-services.
  • Must maintain and complete production records, inventory reports, time cards, and all necessary paperwork required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the AIDB Director of Food & Nutrition.
  • A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL PLUS according to the AIDB evaluation system must by obtained within the first thirty -six (36) months of employment
  • Must be willing and able to a work flexible schedule to include holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.



SALARY: $34,778 - $45,521 (Scale D3 Rank 43)

ASD Cafeteria (207 day position)



Starting 9/1/2023 This position will change to a 230 day position

Salary $37,845.00 - $50,522 Scale D4 Rank 43
