Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world's most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind and multidisabled and their families. Founded in 1858, AIDB serves more than 36,000 infants, toddlers, children, adults and seniors with hearing and vision loss throughout Alabama each year.

Our services literally span a lifetime including five campuses in Talladega, ten regional centers located throughout the State of Alabama with programs that range from early and senior intervention, traditional and nontraditional education services in residential and outreach settings and a manufacturing facility that is the state's largest employer of adults who are Deaf, Blind, or DeafBlind.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Education Administration, or related field, or

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Education Administration, or related field and Professional Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant.
  • The successful candidate must possess a minimum of five years documented successful work experience in executive level positions such as business manager, treasurer, comptroller, or director for public agency, institution or private business.
  • The successful candidate must possess knowledge of education finance, budgeting, personnel, and fund accounting.
  • The successful candidate must provide leadership in the maintenance and enhancement of computerized accounting and management information systems.
  • The successful candidate must possess the ability to work with a wide range of professionals in planning, coordinating and directing the administration and management of all phases of the financial operations of AIDB.
  • The successful candidate must have successful work and accounting experience which demonstrates ability to manage finances of a multi-million dollar manufacturing enterprise.
  • A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Chief Financial Officer is directly responsible to the President for the administration and management of all phases of the financial operation of AIDB, including the receipt and disbursement of all funds, budgetary control, accounting services, financial planning and reporting, investment of idle funds, purchasing, personnel and payroll, and the Alabama Industries for the Blind including the base supply stores.
  • The Chief Financial Officer will have supervisory responsibility for the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Director of Purchasing and Warehousing, and the Director of the Office of Administrative Systems and Instructional Support
  • The CFO will work closely with other AIDB administrators and staff to provide the services required for the education and physical well-being of the students and clients served by AIDB.



The Chief Financial Officer:
  • Serves as Treasurer for the Board of Trustees.
  • Makes recommendations to the President for policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Develops and administers budgets, including control, analysis and revision, and reports to the President projections of revenues and expenditures.
  • Works cooperatively with others, including the Office of Institutional Advancement, the legislature, external agencies, etc. to enhance revenues and the fiscal security of AIDB.
  • Provides leadership to staff for programs and departments assigned.
  • Maintains professional competence in areas of responsibilities.
  • Gives detailed accounts of moneys received and disbursed in advance of regular meetings of the Board of Trustees and at such other times as the Board or President may request.
  • Other essential duties as assigned by the President.

SALARY: $121,476 - $155,000 Scale A1 Rank 01 (260 Days)

Direct deposit is required.

This is an exempt position, and is not subject to overtime or compensatory provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
