POSITION: BEP VENDING MACHINE TECHNICIAN

Joint Service AIDB/ADRS

Location: Montgomery or Dothan (Floater)

WORK SCHEDULE: 260 days

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid Alabama Driver's License.
  • Must have a good driving record and able to be insured by an approved insurance carrier. Additionally, the employee will be required to maintain a valid and qualified State of Alabama driver's license and operate state owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Must be able to travel to BEP facility sites as well as occasional overnight trips.
  • Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired is preferred.
  • Must submit for and be able to obtain and maintain security clearance on federal property, city, county jails, and state prisons and work release facilities.
  • Must have knowledge of electronics and electricity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Employees in this classification assist blind and visually impaired vendors and BEP representatives with business equipment maintenance and repair. The work performed is considered technical and skilled work requiring the maintenance, repair, and installation of coin-operated vending machines and other equipment associated with BEP facility locations which will include refrigeration units.
  • Employee must have Refrigeration Recovery Certification or be able to acquire within six months after employment.
  • Essential functions include demonstrating necessary knowledge regarding equipment repair, including but not limited to safety procedures, use of hand tools, basic electricity, mechanical principles and the ability to read diagrams and schematics.
  • The employee uses written and verbal work orders to complete repairs of equipment in a timely manner.
  • Installs new vending machines and other equipment as needed.
  • Employee is responsible for training blind vendors in the proper use, care and preventive maintenance of vending equipment.
  • Responsibilities include safely warehousing BEP equipment, assisting with inventory control, and delivering and making arrangements for delivery or transfer of equipment when appropriate.
  • Employee is required to keep all tools and equipment in good working order and stored appropriately.
  • Employee will be expected to attend training seminars in order to learn new and modern techniques for repairing and maintaining vending equipment.
  • The employee will be required to maintain a valid and qualified state of Alabama driver's license and operate state owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Position requires travel to BEP facility sites as well as occasional overnight trips.
  • Other related duties as assigned



SALARY: $14.14 - $23.08 Scale MH Rank 56 (Technician I)

$14.89 - $24.45 Scale MH Rank 58 (Technician II)

$15.69 - $25.71 Scale MH Rank 60 (Technician III)

Annual salary based on hours scheduled to work each year.

Direct deposit is required.

This is a non-exempt position, and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Upon agreement in advance, hours worked over 40 in the workweek, will be paid at 1 times the hourly rate.
