ABOUT THE ROLE

The Media Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the social media strategy of the AIDB Outreach Unit, as well as, for providing guidance and support for digital media design for Outreach and OIA. The Media Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing our media strategy in order to increase the online presence and brand awareness of AIDB and to improve our public relations efforts.

The Media Specialist will coordinate and manage the creation of digital content such as websites, blogs, press releases and podcasts, infographics, videos etc. The Media Specialist will serve to standardize digital presentations and backgrounds used within AIDB.

ABOUT YOU

You will utilize your expertise in digital media strategies to focus on creating appealing and creative digital content for AIDB's various media platforms. You will be responsible for creating or supporting social media campaigns and the day-to-day management of AIDB Outreach Unit's social media presence.

The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, versatile designer, and a team player. You will be involved in data collection and analysis in order to improve AIDB's public relations practices over time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design.
  • Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including travel across the state.
  • Must demonstrate competency in working with individuals with sensory differences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in social and/or digital media work, including planning and managing digital content.
  • Awareness of AIDB's logo and brand standards.
  • Understanding of graphic design principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, and other social media best practices.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Audacity or other media editing software.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Develop, manage, and implement social media strategies.
  • Manage and oversee digital media content.
  • Stay abreast of the latest social media best practices and technologies.
  • Utilize social media marketing tools such as Buffer.
  • Manage user engagement.
  • Formulate high quality, creative content for digital media campaigns.
  • Build brand awareness.
  • Help maintain the identity and reputation of AIDB.
  • Assist in development of press kit materials for media outlets, including press releases, images, pitch letters, feature articles, and trend stories.
  • Respond to comments on designated AIDB social media accounts.
  • Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with regional and national media outlets
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • A sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
  • Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
  • Perform other duties, including cross-campus duties, as assigned
